I have provided one day photography workshops at the RHS Garden at Harlow Carr, Harrogate, North Yorkshire for a number of years now and they have always been very popular, with most selling out. The construction of the new study centre at Harlow Carr meant the suspension of all workshops in 2010 but I'm pleased to announce that 2012 will once again see a full programme of workshops available with me - more information below. 

‘Getting the Best Out of Your Digital Compact Camera’ - RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Harrogate, North Yorkshire
(24th April & 21st July 2012)

This one day workshop, suitable for new or inexperienced photographers, is designed for those trying to understand and master their digital compact cameras to improve their flower & plant photography. The workshop will cover the pros & cons of using a digital compact and how to get the best from them e.g. through choice of subject matter, getting the right exposure, achieving maximum sharpness and critical focusing to get the best image quality.  A classroom session in the morning is followed by a practical session in the garden at Harlow Carr when participants get the opportunity to experiment with the techniques covered. 

‘Creative Flower & Plant Photography’ - RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Harrogate, North Yorkshire
(12th May & 10th September 2012)

A one day workshop designed for a group of 12 intermediate or experienced photographers to encourage them to move beyond producing a botanical record image to develop a creative approach to photographing flowers & plants. Using my images as examples, a range of creative techniques will be covered in the classroom followed by some time in the gardens to put these into practice.

(6th October 2012)

This one day workshop is designed for photographers of all levels of ability and will also appeal to people with an interest in using photographs as the basis for other visual and/or creative arts e.g. painting, embroidery, textile design. Participants will be encouraged to take a creative and artistic approach to interpreting form, pattern, colour and light.
